In December 2023, the Association of Swiss Women and Empowerment had the privilege of participating in thethe Global Climate Change Conference, COP28, held in Dubai. Collaborating with esteemed international and local organizations, ASWE initiated the “17 Faces of Action” project within the Green Zone, installed an art object in the Blue Zone, and orchestrated a panel discussion addressing the intersection of water-related issues and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).


The Expo City, serving as the venue for COP 28, provided the backdrop for the exhibition of “17 Faces of Action, UAE Chapter.” This groundbreaking initiative captivated the attention of COP 28 attendees, showcasing the remarkable achievements of UAE women in advancing the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

The exhibition’s grand opening occurred on Sunday, December 3, 2023, in the Green Zone of COP 28, graced by the presence of H.E. Tatiana Valovaya, Director General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, H.E. Arthur Mattli, Swiss Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Mr. Jamal Jama Al Musharakh, the United Arab Emirates Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva, H.E. Dr. Farida Al Hosani, H.E. Al-Reem Al Falasi, H.E. Khuloud Hasan Al Nowais.


Preceding the exhibition, a video project was installed in the Blue Zone of COP 28, marking the inaugural placement of an art object in the political Blue Zone of the conference.


On December 4th, 2023, ASWE organized a panel discussion on Water and Sustainable Goals, featuring a conversation between H.E. Tatiana Valovaya, Ms. Leyla Aliyeva, and Ms. Maryam Al Shehhi.


The implementation of the 17 Faces of Action Project at COP 28 marked a milestone event, shedding light on the interconnectedness between women and global action. Only through collaborative efforts and mutual appreciation can we effect positive change.
