OUR HISTORY

The Swiss Association of Women and Empowerment, established with the backing of D10 Art Space and the United Nations Office at Geneva, was created with the goal to promote the principles of Sustainable Art for global progress, women's empowerment, multiculturalism, cultural heritage preservation, youth engagement, and the integration of new technologies. Central to our philosophy is the recognition of art as the ultimate universal language, transcending boundaries of culture, language, and background.

The photo project "17 Faces of Action" originated from a successful exhibition featuring 17 influential women of Geneva, which was part of the Art Exhibition "Divers Egales Unies" curated by Victoria Desyat at the Rath Museum Geneva in collaboration with the United Nations Office at Geneva, Geneva Red Cross, and Ville de Geneve. The concept was further developed by the first female Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, who proposed replicating the exhibition in 17 countries, each featuring 17 women representing one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To realize this vision, Victoria Desyat, alongside other visionaries, founded the Swiss Association of Women and Empowerment in 2022.

With the art project “17 Faces of Action”, supported by local partners as well as governments from all around the world, the Association has already travelled dozens of thousands of kilometers across Europe, Asia, and Africa, collaborating with esteemed museums, libraries and art centers in order to artistically represent 17 Sustainable Development Goals. So far, “17 Faces of Action” has been realised in 7 countries and was remarkably represented at COP28 UAE in partnership with the General Women’s Union and Biennale of Venice 2024 in partnership with Heydar Aliyev Foundation and IDEA Public Association.
