Swiss Association of Women and Empowerment at WSIS+20 High Level Event

From July 7 to July 11, the Swiss Association of Women and Empowerment took part in the WSIS+20 High-Level Event in Geneva, where it showcased its groundbreaking work at the intersection of art and AI.

As part of the multi-day event, the association held a dedicated exhibition booth, offering visitors an interactive look into its creative and technological initiatives. Attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with MISSION: AI + ART, an innovative application designed to explore global challenges through the power of AI-animated characters. The booth also featured an introduction AI-powered avatars – Heidi AI and Peter AI, hand-painted and digitally animated, offering a unique introduction to the association’s mission and ongoing projects.

In addition to the booth, the association delivered a special session, highlighting how emerging technologies can serve as tools for cultural expression and accessible education. The session opened with a short film narrated by the association’s Genevan avatars, Heidi AI and Peter AI, immersing the audience in its values, actions, and future vision. These avatars, powered by artificial intelligence and grounded in a strong Swiss identity, illustrated how art and AI can be used to build a more inclusive and sustainable society.

The session also gave voice to the next generation. A young girl from El Salvador, Hannah, shared her insights on how technology can empower young people and make global challenges more relatable and engaging.

Following this, the association’s Head of Artificial Intelligence and Art Projects presented the MISSION: AI + ART application in depth, explaining how it transforms complex issues into interactive and meaningful experiences.

The session concluded with a showcase of five AI-generated digital artworks, each reinterpreting a classical painting through the lens of climate change. These pieces prompted critical reflection on the power of digital tools to inspire awareness and conversation around urgent environmental issues.

With its presence at WSIS+20—both through its exhibition booth and public session—the Swiss Association of Women and Empowerment demonstrated the transformative potential of combining artistic vision with technological innovation. The event reinforced the association’s commitment to using digital creativity not only as a means of expression, but as a vehicle for connection, education, and change in the digital age.
